Well, I’m officially done with college.
I had my last class today, and the least I can say is that I’m relieved. it’s been a crazy and interesting experience.
Along with the amazing, rewarding and good times, there were also stressful, anxious and agitating ones to go along with them.
These past four years I’ve devoted strictly to my education, and put everything else in my life on hold. I feel extremely happy to finally step out of my academic shell to spread my wings, and only return if I so choose. I am hoping to go to graduate school for a master’s degree, but that won’t be for at least another three-four years probably. I want to stretch my wings and build up my portfolio.
Right now it’s time for me to remember what it’s like to be a human being again, working at normal human capacity and just taking things one at a time. No rushing. It’s time to rest, get back in shape and just get out and do things away from a screen.
I want to make art for myself again and remember the simple joys of creating free-flowing art without a deadline in the back of my mind. To spend time with my family, and friends again. Figure things out to bit by bit. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.
I’d say all the hard work was worth it though, and I’ve met some irreplaceable [and talented] friends through my experience, as well as many amazing artists that I know are going to go far and do great things with their talents and skills. Not to mention all the fantastic faculty and teachers I had to guide me along the way and that I hope to keep in touch with.
I’ve learned a lot these four years, and I’ve grown a lot these four years.
And now it’s finally time to apply it, and do something for myself.
To all the people and friends reading this who were there through it with me, I love you all.
To all my friends, who stayed with me close through the sunny days and the rainy days, at MCAD, on tumblr, or wherever you are, I love you even more.
Let’s just
float, float
float away.~

Congratulations to all the beautiful people this impacts directly! ( Including many of my friends!)
Here’s to more states following suit!

I still can hardly believe it don’t really know what to do with myself or think. It’s very slowly sinking in.

I’m proud of you Minnesota

Director Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, Pacific Rim) updated fans on the status of his Monster television plans at the Los Angeles Times Hero Complex Festival this weekend. Del Toro submitted the pilot script to the HBO network last week.
The director said that the planned series will follow Naoki Urasawa’s original manga very closely. Urasawa would only give permission for the adaptation if he could review an outline of each episode of the first season. The series would cover the 18-volume manga’s story only, with no extra content to increase episode countDel Toro and Steven Thompson (Dr. Who, Sherlock) wrote the pilot that del Toro will direct if the project moves forward. Angry Films’ Don Murphy (live-action Transformers) and Susan Montford are executive producers along with del Toro. Thompson will serve as a co-executive producer, and Shogakukan — the publisher of the original manga — will be a consulting producer.
Viz published the Monster manga, as well several other titles by Urasawa, in North America. Viz also released the Monster television anime series, and the anime ran on the television channel Syfy in the United States from 2009 to 2010.

Anonymous asked: i just saw the post you reblogged about how it's snowing where you are. Here in california it's about 95 degrees, and our fire season has just seemed to be getting started. trade you weather?
AHJS YES, Let’s do half and half trade. It’s about 35˚ here
We’ll get about 70˚ each and sun. I like the sound of this.
But yeah seriously though, I’m trying to figure out where in the country seasons do what they’re supposed to do. Where spring at least starts in APRIL. Somewhere it’s usually warm, but doesn’t get over 98˚ much, and isn’t in the middle of tornado valley or over a fault line or right next to the ocean because hurricanes wHAT DO I DO.
I need to know where to move.
In Minnesota we don’t say “I love you”. We say “WHY IS IT SNOWING IN MAY. DON’T CHA KNOW IT IS MAY” which translates to “I feel cold without your body warmth”.
GOD WHY IS IT SNOWING IN MAY.
I feel ya brutha.
ITS AMAZING WHAT FOUR DAYS OF WARM AND SUN CAN DO I WAS SO HAPPY.
NOW THAT THE SNOW WEATHER HAS COME BACK HAS MADE ME SO SAD AND RESTLESS.

And so, my film is finally done and handed in.
Thus ends this chapter of my life.
I’ll finish up finals next week,
graduate on the 18th,
and then update things from there and straighten out my portfolio.
Then start living for real.

Sometimes it can be hard (trying to be polite, modesty, etc.)- I’ve been guilty of deflecting compliments myself. But you deserve to be complimented, so just say thank you and smile! :-)
